Android mobile devices can now use Microsoft’s Copilot tool, an AI chatbot that can assist with anything from writing code to creating marketing emails. Copilot can also be used to create images from straightforward text requests and descriptions. Copilot is powered by OpenAI’s most recent models, GPT-4 and DALL-E 3. The app can be downloaded for free from the Google Play Store and doesn’t require a Microsoft account to use.
In contrast to the release of Bing Chat on mobile devices, the launch of Microsoft’s Copilot (formerly Bing Chat) on mobile devices was met with minimal fanfare and no official press releases. The recently launched Copilot app was first discovered by Neowin when X users saw it in the Play Store. It was released earlier this month. However, Copilot is still unavailable on iOS, and the developer has not yet provided an estimated date of release.
It is only fitting that Copilot has found its way onto mobile devices (at least initially on Android). Microsoft’s prior decision to bring Copilot to Windows 10, following its release on Edge, Microsoft 365 products, and Windows 11, increased the number of devices that can use the AI assistant to 1 billion, indicating the company’s unwavering stance on growth. This is in line with the latest Copilot updates from the company, which include the song creation and video summarization features.
