“Through a collaboration that will see ChatGPT integrated into devices as well as through its own new native “Apple Intelligence,” Apple will provide new artificial intelligence (AI) services for users across products in its next software releases.”
During its developer conference on Monday, Apple revealed that Apple Intelligence seeks to provide consumers with a tailored AI system.
The newest AI push from a major tech company comes with Apple’s announcement of Apple Intelligence and the upcoming improvements for its AI voice assistant, Siri. Prior AI developments have been released by Google, Microsoft, and OpenAI.
Apple made much of how their AI upgrade will be more user-specific than other generative AI tools that have been made available to the public.
Users will have the ability to rearrange text in emails, notes, and chats across apps and prioritize their notifications with Apple Intelligence.
Together with updates to the Mac and iPad operating systems that will be launched in the fall, the functionality will be part of the introduction of the new iOS18.
Additionally, Apple revealed that customers would be able to ask follow-up questions to leverage extra conversational context when using its AI voice assistant, Siri.
Asking Siri specific inquiries will allow users to retrieve information sent through emails or messages without switching apps by utilizing user context and Apple Intelligence. Users don’t have to go through previous messages when asking Siri, for instance, what time a family member’s aircraft is scheduled to land.
In addition to voice commands, users will now be able to message Siri with inquiries by typing in.
“Users will be instantly connected to OpenAI’s ChatGPT for free without having to form a separate account, in addition to learning from Apple’s own features.”
When a user asks Siri a question, the virtual assistant might suggest that they visit ChatGPT to get the solution. Additionally, users can use ChatGPT—a generative AI tool—within Apple devices to help with writing or other tasks.
