Buffalo Bills sign Micah Hyde to 2-year, $19.2 million extension through 2023

Micah Hyde is trading in for money only two months after turning 30.

The Buffalo Bills have signed Hyde to a two-year extension, the group reported Friday. The arrangement is worth at $19.25 million, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport detailed, as Hyde is currently under agreement through 2023 with his cap number basically remaining the equivalent for 2021.

Hyde at first joined the Bills on a five-year deal signed in March, arriving at the Pro Bowl in his first season with Buffalo and filling in as a beginning security through the term of him time with the group. Hyde recorded five passes defensed and one block attempt to oblige 70 handles in 2020, playing close by Jordan Poyer toward the back of Buffalo’s secondary.

Hyde posted a Pro Football Focus defensive grade of 70.3, his worst grade in his time in Buffalo yet essentially better than everything except one season spent in Green Bay, where he started his NFL career. Hyde positioned as the 25th-best safety in the NFL in 2020, per PFF.

Hyde was entering the final season of his $30 million deal, which was set to represent $6.7 million of Buffalo’s cap in 2021. While the Bills might have saved somewhat more than $5 million by delivering him, they’ll rather hold a effective safety for a couple of more years as they pursue a title.
