HBCU Grads Appear in Patricia Pinto’s La Creme Fashion Show

Both the fashion and entertainment industry were affected by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. But not as much as you might think. Fashion shows have had to go virtual and eliminate the physical crowd in the room, but that hasn’t fully stopped them. La Creme Angels Inc. held a fashion show last week to raise awareness for breast cancer.

The show featured models from Patricia Pinto’s La Creme Modeling & Acting agency, many of which are HBCU graduates. Patricia Pinto says she planned on having a show with an audience before COVID-19 but then New Jersey started to see coronavirus cases. She had to reinvent the system and go virtual or there would be no show for people to watch.

11 HBCU graduates modeled for various top fashion designers in the virtual show. The graduates, mostly from Morgan State University, prepared on their runway walk for months to perfect it. A fashion show is a great way for talent and viewers to get their minds off of the pandemic, state lockdowns, and keep them up to more great things.

La Creme Angels has held many fashion shows in the past but this was their first virtual one. Francesca Pinto, one of the event’s planners, says they have always livestreamed the fashion shows they’ve hosted so that people who can’t make it can watch them at a later time. The internet is a powerful tool to use because anyone can watch the fashion show from any part of the world, at any time they wish to.

A lot of precations were taken before the event happened. All of the models had to get COVID-19 tests and the runway room was deeply sanitized weeks before the big day of the long awaited show. Some of the designers brought unreleased garments. Many of the models walked the runway in props like angel wings, winter scarves, and face masks.
