Live Blog of the Women’s Premier League 2023 Auction

The first purchase in the auction, Smriti Mandhana, who was acquired by RCB, was also the largest at 3.4 crore. At 3.2 crore each, Ashleigh Gardner (GG) and Nat Sciver-Brunt (MI) were the largest offshore purchases. The second-largest Indian purchase, Deepti Sharma, went to UPW for 2.6 crore, and Jemimah Rodrigues went to DC for 2.2 crore. Beth Mooney (GG), Shafali Verma (DC), and Pooja Vastrakar each left for two crores, which is the same sum that the RCB paid to acquire Richa Ghosh. Sophie Ecclestone went to UPW for the same amount as Harmanpreet Kaur, who was the second player to enter the auction.

87 players in total were sold, 30 of whom were international players. Of the maximum authorised budget of 60 Crore, the teams spent a total of 59.50 Crore. DC and RCB were the two teams to go in with the full strength of 18 players while MI and GG roped in 17 players each. 16 players were left after the auction for UPW. That brings up to the end of the auction. Hope you enjoyed our coverage.

After a brief intermission, a third round of the rapid auction will begin. To meet the required minimum of 15 players, MI must fill one more position. UPW has used up all of their funds and is down to 16 players.
