Marion Ramsey, the entertainer most popular for her part as Officer Laverne Hooks in the film establishment “Police Academy,” passed on Thursday in Los Angeles at 73 years old, as per an assertion to CNN from administrator Roger Paul. No reason for death was given.
“Marion carried with her a kindness and permeating light that instantly filled a room upon her arrival. The dimming of her light is already felt by those who knew her well. We will miss her, and always love her,” the statement said.
Brought into the world in Philadelphia, Ramsey’s amusement profession began in front of an audience. She co-featured in Broadway shows, including creations of “Eubie!” and “Grind,” and visited the country in the melodic “Hello Dolly.”
Ramsey started her way into TV with a visitor part on the hit arrangement “The Jeffersons,” and was a normal in “Cos,” the Bill Cosby sketch comedy series.
Her most notable job was in the 1984 film “Police Academy” as Officer Hooks, whose calm attitude was interspersed by important upheavals. Ramsey featured in five extra “Police Academy” films through the 1980s.
She began voice acting in “The Addams Family” animation arrangement from the mid 1990s, which circulated for two seasons.
