Microsoft Edge Will Use AI To Power Its Live Translation Technology For YouTube Videos And Other Content

A real-time video translating function has been announced by Microsoft and will be integrated into Microsoft Edge. “Users will be able to enjoy real-time translations of spoken content on YouTube, LinkedIn, and Coursera thanks to this new AI-powered functionality, which also offers dubbing and subtitles.” Major news websites like Reuters, CNBC, and Bloomberg will be able to use this real-time translation capability through Microsoft Edge, in addition to YouTube and educational networks like Coursera.

The most recent real-time translation functionality for Microsoft Edge will enable users to translate between English, German, Hindi, Italian, Russian, and Spanish as well as from Spanish and Korean to English. To make the video content accessible to a wider audience, including people who are deaf or have hearing impairments, this feature has been included. Watchers can access live subtitles with this service.

Microsoft plans to expand its support to include more languages and websites. Regardless of the content’s original language, users will have access to a vast variety of materials.

The Copilot program by Microsoft Edge will bring a broader array of AI advancements, including this new real-time translating feature. Video summarization is only one of the AI tools that Edge users can choose from. To make it simpler to comprehend the context of the video, this feature generates a brief transcript of the video material.

At the Build 2024, representatives of Microsoft revealed that the translation is done completely on the user’s device. This means that no data from the video leaves the user’s machine. They said, “This means that no segment of the video or audio content ever exits the machine or is processed in the cloud.”

Microsoft released a number of new add-ons in addition to the real-time translating function. One of the standout features was the Copilot initiative’s expanded capabilities. Users may monitor emails, automate workflows, assist with employee onboarding, and complete data entry with the help of these new features in Copilot.
