Tom Spezialy, falling off a run as a executive producer on HBO’s Emmy-winning limited series Watchmen, has signed a general deal with Amazon Studios. Under the settlement, I hear Spezialy has joined Silk, Sony Pictures Television’s upcoming live-action Marvel series, which supposedly is gone to Amazon’s Prime Video as SVOD merchant. Reps for Amazon and Sony declined remark.
I hear Spezialy will serve in as executive producer/showrunner on the series close by executive producer Lauren Moon, an essayist on Sony TV’s Netflix series Atypical, who composed the Silk TV adaptation dependent on the Korean-American comic book hero, made by Dan Slott and Humberto Ramos.
Spider-man: Into the Spider-verse’s Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who direct Sony’s set-up of TV series dependent on Sony’s Universe of Marvel characters, executive produce Silk with Spider-Man establishment maker Amy Pascal.
As executive producer of another comic book TV variation, Damon Lindelof’s Watchmen, Spezialy partook in the show’s Outstanding Limited Series Emmy Award. He additionally co-made Starz’s Ash versus Evil Dead and chief delivered The Leftovers, Desperate Housewives, Reaper and Dead Like Me. He is repped by Manage-ment and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.
Silk (also known as Cindy Moon) first showed up as a faceless cameo in Marvel Comics’ The Amazing Spider-Man #1 in April 2014. She was essential for the new Agents of Atlas team, which appeared in a War of the Realms tie-in and later got their own five-issue restricted arrangement. Another Silk ongoing series by essayist Maruene Goo and artist Takeshi Miyazawa was set to be distributed in July 2020 yet was postponed by the COVID-19 pandemic. It was delivered in March 2021.
The character has been depicted by Tiffany Espensen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
