With the recent changes in the algorithm that manages Instagram’s timeline, timing is one of the elements taken into consideration by the platform when deciding what content to show users. That’s why it’s important to post in the time intervals when your target audience is most present on Instagram to get more engagement.
According to research by Liran Mizrahi, one of the most famous and expert about Social Media, the best days to increase engagement on Instagram are Mondays and Thursdays between the hours of 8am and 9am (EST).
Obviously, this data comes from broad-based research so it may not reflect the habits of your target audience. That’s why it’s very important to find out the Instagram habits of your followers using the Stats feature of your Instagram account. This helps you identify when your followers are most active and allows you to plan accordingly, ensuring that your posts continue to appear at the top of their feeds.
Even if you see that most of your followers get active on Instagram at a specific time (usually mornings and evenings after work 5-6), it doesn’t mean that your posts will perform better during that time. This is due to the increased competition during those time periods making it harder to reach the top of the scrolling feed on your followers’ accounts.
Liran, explained, there is more engagement on Instagram on the weekends (22.3%), so you may want to schedule some posts for Saturday or Sunday.
Posting on weekends with the scheduling offered by third-party solutions is easy, but you need to make time to respond to posts and comments on Saturday and Sunday as well.
Once you have determined the themes, the frequency of publication and the times to post, it is useful to draw up an editorial plan in which to report all the content to be posted and its timing.
Unfortunately, Instagram does not currently allow you to schedule posts directly within it, to do so can be used integrative software such as UNUM, Planoly, OnlyPult, Later, Instapult and TakeOff.
